The WRT54GS I have is directly supported and has enough memory. It is a v6 linksys running v24 SP1 and has had nothing but WAN connection issues - everything else works great and plenty of free memory to operate.

I've done alot of reading on this issue and it seems to be quite widespread. I think I'm going to do some reading on how to revert back to generic linksys software because it's hardly usable with the DD-WRT firmware on it.

If people actually read the faq at the dd-wrt site they would realize that V5 V6 is not supported by the DD-WRT firmware, due to the fact that there is not enough memory on those devices.

can you tell me what the procedure is for restoring the linksys firmware? i have downloaded the latest linksys firmware, but it can't be uploaded via the dd-wrt interface. i assume i'll have to use tftp, but the vxworks bootloader was overwritten when i did the dd-wrt upgrade, so i don't know what to do at this point. even though linksys firmware sucks, the dd-wrt firmware was a huge mistake.

John,

The WRT54G V5/5.1/6 do not support direct reversion from DD-WRT to Linksys firmware. Please see http://www.bitsum.com/openwiking/owbase/ow.asp?WRT54G5_CFE. Apparently replacing stock firmware with DD-WRT firmware on WRT54GS V5/5.1/6 routers is a one-way street. There is an exception--you can essentially revert your WRT54GS with DD-WRT to a stock WRT54G.

k thx bai,

Ron

FYI, reverting back to original firmware is a savior. Since then, I never felt any downtime. Hail Linksys firmware!

Hi, i'm in the same situation as u do. Using dd-wrt v23 sp2 on wrt54g v5.0. A lot of disconnectivity and instability. Do you mind telling me how has the router been doing since you reverted it back to linksys firmware?
